A forest fire that broke out at midday in Zisimaiika, western Achaea, has been contained by firefighters, preventing further spread.
The fire
A forest fire broke out around midday on June 15 in the area of Zisimaiika, in western Achaea. The blaze ignited in a wooded area, prompting an immediate mobilization of the fire service.
Firefighting response
A total of 48 firefighters were deployed, supported by 11 fire engines. Three pedestrian teams worked on foot in difficult terrain to assist the containment effort. The forces succeeded in controlling the fire front and preventing its further spread.
Current status
By late afternoon, the situation was reported as very good, with the fire perimeter contained. No information on casualties or property damage has been released.
