Pollar is an independent European news service. We collect reporting already published by European and international outlets, group related articles into events, and summarise each event with AI assistance in English, Polish, German and French. Every article lists its sources. There are no ads and no paywall. Pollar is published by POLLAR P.S.A., an independent company in Kraków, and funded by its readers.
Is Pollar free?
Yes. Every article, the twice-daily brief, live coverage, the web app and the mobile apps are free, and reading requires no account. Pollar is funded by optional annual memberships instead of advertising. Members support the service; they do not unlock content, because nothing is locked.
How does Pollar use AI?
AI drafts and summarises. Automated checks flag weak passages, and the editorial team sets the publication standard and corrects mistakes publicly. Each article links the original reporting it draws on, so any fact can be checked at its source. The models we use are listed in the AI policy.
Where does the news come from?
From reporting already published by European and international outlets: wire services, major dailies and quality national titles across EU member states. Pollar does no original reporting. We select, condense and attribute, and the full source list sits under every article.
Does Pollar track its readers?
Pollar shows no ads and sells no reader data. Analytics are self-hosted on our servers in the EU, cookieless and anonymous. One exception, and only with consent: to measure our own ad campaigns we send conversion events to Meta and X for visitors who accept marketing cookies; declining sends nothing. Reading requires no account.
What languages does Pollar publish in?
English, Polish, German and French. Articles are written in English first, then translated by purpose-chosen models and checked; each language is a full edition of the service with its own URLs, not a partial mirror.
Is there a Pollar app?
Yes. Pollar News for iPhone is on the App Store, and a native Android app is in testing. Both stay free, like the web app at pollar.news. The iPhone app adds a Lock Screen live view for breaking events and offline reading.
Who is behind Pollar?
Pollar is published by POLLAR P.S.A., an independent company registered in Kraków, Poland, founded by Jakub Dudek. There are no outside media owners, no advertisers and no sponsored content. The people and the standards are on the editorial page.
How is Pollar different from a news aggregator?
An aggregator forwards headlines to publisher sites, many of them paywalled. Pollar writes one summary per event, free to read, and shows where each fact comes from. The edition is finite: when the day is read, Pollar says so instead of refilling the feed. No engagement algorithm decides what appears.
