These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your access to and use of Pollar — the website at pollar.news and our mobile applications (together, the “Service”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by Pollar P.S.A., with its registered office in Krakow at ul. Piastowska 46/12, 30-067 Krakow, Poland, registered in the Register of Entrepreneurs of the National Court Register kept by the District Court for Krakow-Srodmiescie in Krakow, 11th Commercial Division, under KRS number 00011944689, NIP 6772540681 (“Pollar”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at contact@pollar.news.
2. What Pollar is
Pollar is a free, reader-supported European news service. We do not publish original reporting — we cluster, summarise and translate articles already published by other outlets, with the help of AI and under human editorial review, in English, Polish, German and French. Because summaries are AI-assisted they can contain errors; see our AI policy and always check the original sources linked under each story for anything that matters. All news on Pollar is free for everyone.
3. Your account
You can read Pollar without an account. Signing in (with an email code, Apple or Google) unlocks optional features such as a personalised feed, saved articles, reading history and notifications. You are responsible for keeping access to your email or sign-in provider secure, and for activity under your account. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You can delete your account at any time from your account settings; deletion completes within 30 days, during which you can undo it.
4. Acceptable use
Please use the Service fairly. You agree not to: scrape, harvest in bulk or systematically copy our content; disrupt, overload or attempt to circumvent the Service or its security; use the Service in breach of applicable law or the rights of others; or republish our summaries and translations as if they were original reporting. We may suspend or restrict access that threatens the Service or other readers.
5. Membership and payments
Membership is a voluntary way to support Pollar. It does not unlock the news — every article and feature stays free whether you pay or not; membership sustains the Service and adds supporter perks. Memberships (Supporter and Founder tiers) are billed annually in your local currency and renew automatically at the end of each period unless cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe on the web, or by Apple or Google when you subscribe inside our mobile apps — in-app purchases are also subject to the relevant app store’s terms. You can cancel at any time; your membership and perks remain active until the end of the period you have already paid for.
6. Right of withdrawal (consumers)
If you are a consumer in the EU, you have the right to withdraw from a membership within 14 days of entering into it, without giving any reason. To withdraw, tell us clearly — for example by email to contact@pollar.news, or through the cancellation option in the app or billing portal. If you ask us to start your membership immediately and it is fully performed within those 14 days, the right to withdraw may end; in any case these Terms do not limit the statutory consumer rights you have under the law of your country of residence. For in-app subscriptions, refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
7. Content and intellectual property
The original articles we summarise, and their images, remain the property of their respective publishers; we link and credit each source. Pollar’s own material — our summaries, briefs, translations, design and software — belongs to Pollar or its licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for your own, non-commercial news reading. Do not copy, resell or redistribute our material at scale, or present it as original reporting. If you believe content on Pollar infringes your rights, contact contact@pollar.news.
8. Accuracy and availability
Pollar is provided “as is” and “as available”. Because our summaries are produced with AI, they can be incomplete or wrong, and we do not warrant that the Service or its content is accurate, current, uninterrupted or error-free. Nothing on Pollar is professional, legal, financial or other advice. For anything that matters, rely on the original sources linked under each story, not on our summary alone.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Pollar is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Service or its content. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability where it cannot be excluded under applicable law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for intentional fault, or any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
10. Corrections and complaints
We correct mistakes — see our corrections and complaints page for how to report a factual error and what happens next. For any other complaint about the Service, write to contact@pollar.news.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. We will update the date above when we do, and we will give members reasonable notice of changes that materially affect a paid membership. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by Polish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence in the EU, and you can bring proceedings in the courts there. Consumers may also use the out-of-court dispute resolution bodies available in their country. Disputes that are not resolved amicably fall under the jurisdiction of the courts competent under applicable law.
