La Scala dance student, 15, killed in scooter crash; two other children die on Italy's roads the same day
Davis Aloschi, a 15-year-old student of the Teatro alla Scala ballet school in Milan, died after a scooter collision in Siracusa. On the same day, a four-year-old girl and another 15-year-old boy lost their lives in separate accidents near Bari and Salerno.
A promising young dancer
Davis Aloschi, born in 2010, was a passenger on a scooter that collided with another motorbike in the northern zone of Siracusa on 19 June 2026. He was rushed to the Umberto I hospital but died from severe injuries. Two other teenagers were hurt in the same crash; an 18-year-old remains in intensive care with a guarded prognosis. Local police, under the direction of the Siracusa public prosecutor's office, are investigating and have seized both vehicles.
Aloschi had returned to his hometown only days earlier for a holiday break from Milan. He had been admitted to the Teatro alla Scala ballet school in 2022, where he was a fifth-year student. In 2023 he performed in Alexei Ratmansky's Coppélia, and in 2024 he appeared in Rudolf Nureyev's The Nutcracker on the La Scala stage.
The entire institution — from director Frédéric Olivieri to the teachers, the minor assistants, his classmates, and the staff of the Pietro Longone boarding school in Milan — is devastated by such a painful and unacceptable loss.
The academy described Aloschi as a sunny, generous boy, loved for his boundless energy and the solidarity he showed daily to his peers. "His passing leaves an unfillable void in the entire academy community," the statement added.
Two other young victims
On the same day, a four-year-old girl died in a collision between a car and an SUV on the road between Capurso and Rutigliano, in the province of Bari. The child was in the rear seat of a vehicle driven by her 38-year-old mother. The girl died instantly; the mother was taken in critical condition to the Policlinico di Bari, intubated and comatose, awaiting transfer to intensive care. The SUV driver, a 37-year-old man, suffered leg and head injuries and was treated at the Di Venere hospital. Highway police have seized both cars.
A third fatal crash occurred overnight between Thursday and Friday in Salerno. A 15-year-old boy, riding as a passenger on a scooter driven by an adult, lost his life. The driver was hospitalised with a reserved prognosis.
