15-year-old e-scooter rider killed in crash with Opel in Władysławowo near Elbląg

The collision

On the evening of Tuesday, 20 October, a 15-year-old boy riding an electric scooter collided with an Opel passenger car in Władysławowo, a village near Elbląg. Police say the accident happened on one of the local roads, which they describe as rarely used. The Opel was driven by a 39-year-old man, who police say was sober when tested. Krzysztof Nowacki, a police spokesman in Elbląg, said the boy had been wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Rescue and investigation

Emergency crews tried to resuscitate the boy at the scene, but he could not be saved. Officers from the traffic police unit and forensic technicians worked at the site. Police secured evidence and are working to establish the exact sequence of events and the causes of the collision. The Elbląg City Police said the investigation is ongoing.

The Elbląg City Police said they will pay particular attention to how e-scooter users move on the road, citing concern for the lives and health of all road users.
