17-year-old killed by car on walk home from birthday party in Foggia
A 17-year-old boy was fatally struck by a car driven by another birthday party guest as he walked home with friends in San Nicandro Garganico, Foggia, around 4 a.m. on 12 June 2026.
The crash
The group was returning home on foot after a birthday party held at a reception hall nearby. At approximately 4 a.m. on 12 June 2026, as they walked along via Torre Mileto, a car approached and struck the 17-year-old with full force at a bend in the road. The incident occurred on the provincial highway towards Torre Mileto, about one kilometre from the centre of San Nicandro Garganico. The victim was walking with friends at the side of the carriageway when he was hit.
Rescue and death
Emergency services were called immediately. A 118 ambulance crew arrived and attempted life-saving manoeuvres, and an air ambulance was activated. The teenager died moments before he could be transported, succumbing to his injuries at the scene. Paramedics pronounced him dead on the spot.
Driver and investigation
The driver of the vehicle was another participant at the birthday party. Law enforcement, including carabinieri, have opened an investigation to reconstruct the exact dynamics of the incident and to establish any liability. As of the morning of 12 June, no charges had been reported.
Victim and community reaction
The teenager’s family is well known in San Nicandro Garganico. His father is a labour consultant and his mother a teacher. The town was reported to be in a state of shock following the death.
