Application window and platform

The heating allowance for the 2026-2027 winter season is set out in a joint ministerial decision (KYA) that has been published in the Government Gazette. Applications must be submitted by Friday, 4 December 2026, electronically through the myΘέρμανση platform operated by AADE. The platform is expected to open no later than 10 November 2026. Applicants will need their TAXISnet personal codes, the electricity supply number of their main residence, the heating type they want subsidised and their property details. The applicant must also have declared a bank account with an IBAN in myAADE, on which they are the main or a joint beneficiary.

Amounts and increase

This year's allowance is 30% higher, and the increase is meant to help about 1.2 million households cope with heating costs. The minimum payment rises from 100 to 130 euros, and the ceiling for most beneficiaries goes from 800 to 1,040 euros. In areas where the climate coefficient is equal to or greater than 1, the amount is raised by 25% and can reach 1,300 euros. In the coldest settlements, where the coefficient is 1.2 or higher, an additional increase applies, with a cap of 1,560 euros. The final amount will depend on the heating type, the region of the main residence, the climate coefficient and the number of dependent children. One source adds that weather conditions from October 2026 to March 2027, based on data from the National Meteorological Service, will also factor in. Each beneficiary can receive support for only one type of heating.

Payment schedule

The advance payment is due by 23 December 2026. Beneficiaries who were in last year's programme would receive an advance equal to 60% of their total entitlement, while first-time applicants would receive 50%. Naftemporiki gives 80 euros as a minimum for the advance, whereas SKAI reports that the advance cannot exceed 80 euros, so the two accounts conflict on this point. The main installment is due by 28 May 2027 and covers purchases made between 1 October 2026 and 31 March 2027, minus the advance. Wood and pellet purchases are counted from 1 June 2026 to 31 March. Balances needed to reach the minimum are due by 31 May, and supplementary payments for natural gas, district heating and electricity are due by 30 July 2027. To receive the full allowance, beneficiaries must have made purchases or consumption worth at least twice the subsidy they are entitled to.

Who qualifies

The income and property criteria are unchanged. Annual family income must not exceed 16,000 euros for a single, widowed or separated applicant, 24,000 euros for a married person or civil partner (plus 5,000 euros per child), and 29,000 euros for a single-parent family (plus 5,000 euros per child after the first). The objective value of property may not exceed 200,000 euros for single applicants and 260,000 euros for married or single-parent households, a limit that rises by 40,000 euros for each dependent child. Gross family revenue from business activity must stay at or below 80,000 euros.
