Crimea bans children's camps and halts fuel sales as Ukrainian strikes escalate
Russian-appointed authorities in occupied Crimea suspended children’s recreational stays until September and halted all fuel sales to private consumers, as Ukrainian air strikes on oil infrastructure across the peninsula cut supplies and sparked long queues at petrol stations.
The Russian-appointed leadership of occupied Crimea tightened emergency measures on Monday, banning all organised holidays and camps for children until 1 September and confirming that no petrol or diesel is being sold to private persons or businesses. The announcements came a day after a long-range Ukrainian drone attack struck oil terminals on both sides of the Kerch Strait.
In the current situation, these measures are necessary to ensure public safety.
Fuel supply cut off
Since Sunday, only state entities guaranteeing “the livelihoods and security of the Republic of Crimea” can obtain fuel. The governor asked residents to remain calm and rely on official sources. The restriction follows weeks of rationing with fuel coupons that failed to stabilise queues, and it deepens a crisis that is unfolding in the peak holiday season. Long lines of cars were photographed in Simferopol.
Russia only understands strength, and our long-range strength certainly works for peace.
Kyiv’s long-range hits
President Zelenskyy confirmed that Ukrainian drones struck “maritime logistics for oil transport in the Krasnodar region and an oil depot in temporarily occupied Kerch”, as well as military logistics sites and radar systems. The Crimean Bridge, a vital supply artery, was closed for more than nine hours. Defence minister Mykhailo Fedorov had earlier declared a campaign to turn the peninsula into an island and cut Russian logistics.
For the Russians, a hell begins that they will hardly be able to cope with.
Power and water strain
Local energy supplier Krymenergo introduced scheduled blackouts, which in turn are affecting the water supply. The cumulative pressure is forcing Russian-installed authorities to acknowledge the damage from weeks of Ukrainian strikes on oil depots and railways.
