Police appeal for caution
Marcin Kunka, spokesperson for the Starogard Gdański district police, used the incident to call on drivers and pedestrians to exercise greater vigilance. He stressed that excessive speed is a primary danger.
We appeal to drivers to take their foot off the gas. Excessive speed drastically shortens reaction time and lengthens braking distance. Let's remember the principle of limited trust, especially near pedestrian crossings, intersections, and built-up areas. Keep safe distances from the vehicle ahead and watch the road carefully. Let's look out for each other.
