Italy cuts diesel excise duty by 17 cents per litre until August 6, opposition brands it 'alms'
Italy's cabinet approved a 17-cent-per-litre cut in diesel excise and VAT, running from midnight 27–28 July to 6 August. The €125 million measure is funded by extra VAT receipts, antitrust penalties, and a structural fund, with a follow-up meeting set for 4 August.
