Global HIV funding fell 18% to $7.3 billion in 2025, the lowest level in nearly two decades, driven largely by US cuts, UNAIDS said at the International AIDS Conference in Brazil. The agency warned that without renewed commitment, the epidemic could resurge, with 1.2 million new infections last year and prevention programs collapsing in sub-Saharan Africa.
