    A 39-year-old man called police and confessed to killing his partner, 27, at noon on 31 July in a central Santander apartment. The Ministry of Equality is treating the case as a suspected gender-based murder, which would bring Spain's 2026 toll to 33 women and leave the couple's young child orphaned.
