Italy braces for heatwave as African anticyclone builds, 40°C peaks in Florence and Sardinia

A massive subtropical anticyclone from North Africa will settle over Italy from the weekend of 13-14 June, driving temperatures well above seasonal norms. Mid-next week, readings could reach 40°C in Florence and interior Sardinia.
