WhatsApp Events now lets guests without an account view and RSVP from a browser
Invited people can now read event details and confirm attendance in a browser, without downloading the app or creating a profile. A new Events section in Settings collects invites, RSVPs and reminders in one place.

In brief
Guests with an invite link can view details and confirm attendance from a browser, with no WhatsApp account or app download needed, according to WhatsApp.
The organiser's phone number is hidden from guests not in their contacts, and account-less guests see the event address only after they RSVP.
WhatsApp adds a dedicated Events hub listing past and upcoming events, RSVP management, custom reminders and a plus-one option for guests.
The update extends WhatsApp's event tools to people outside the app, following October 2026 video call access for non-users, a move Engadget reads as competing with Partiful.
Browser access without an account
WhatsApp is changing its Events feature so that people do not need the app to join a gathering. Anyone who receives an invite link can open it in a browser, read the event details and confirm attendance, without downloading the client or registering a profile. The organiser can add a cover image when creating an event, then send the link by SMS or email, or generate a QR code that leads to the same invite.
Privacy limits for outside guests
The update also restricts what people outside the organiser's contacts can see. The organiser's phone number is hidden from guests who are not in their contacts. The address of the meeting place stays hidden from people without an account until they confirm they are coming. On this point WhatsApp said:
“Guests without a WhatsApp account will only see the event address after they RSVP.”
Before this update, events could only be created inside individual chats and group conversations. The change gives the feature a separate home, so the same tools now sit outside any one conversation.
A dedicated Events hub in Settings
WhatsApp is adding an independent Events section to its settings menu. From that hub, users can create invites, manage RSVPs and review a list of past and upcoming events they have organised or been invited to. Hosts can set custom reminders and allow guests to bring a plus-one. Events can also be personalised with a header photo, which the hub now makes easier to reach.
Context and rollout
Engadget reads the wider audience as a move to compete with services such as Partiful. The update follows a change WhatsApp made in October 2026, when it let people without WhatsApp accounts join video calls. Usernames, added earlier in 2026, let people use the service without sharing their phone numbers. WhatsApp says the updated Events feature will reach everyone over the next few weeks, and no exact start date has been given. The release is timed for the holiday season, when people organise get-togethers.
