Ultralight seaplane crashes in forest near Łowicz landing strip, 50-year-old pilot survives
An ultralight seaplane crashed in a forest near the Bobrowniki landing strip outside Łowicz on Saturday morning. The 50-year-old pilot from Warsaw survived and was airlifted to a specialist hospital in Łódź.

An ultralight aircraft crashed in a forested area near the village of Bobrowniki, in the Łowicz county of the Łódzkie voivodeship, on Saturday 15 August 2026. Emergency services received the report at approximately 11:10, according to police. The wreckage was located about 400 metres from the Bobrowniki landing strip, on the opposite side of national road DK70, in the Nieborów municipality. Fire services reached the wreck at around 11:52 and extracted the pilot from the debris.
The aircraft was identified by the Alarmowy Łowicz portal as an Aventura II, described as a seaplane or flying boat, carrying Polish registration marks. The machine was completely wrecked, according to wpolityce.pl. The pilot was flying alone.
Pilot survives and is airlifted
The sole occupant was a 50-year-old resident of Warsaw. Police confirmed he was conscious after the crash but had sustained injuries. He was transported by an LPR medical rescue helicopter to a specialist hospital in Łódź. Nadkomisarz Edyta Machnik, spokesperson for the Łódź voivodeship police, provided details to PAP.

Rescue operation
Multiple emergency units responded to the scene. According to Alarmowy Łowicz, the deployment included three teams from JRG Łowicz, OSP Nieborów, two units from OSP Bobrowniki, a medical rescue team, LPR Ratownik 18, and police. Fire service press officer Tomasz Ledzion, quoted by Lowicz24.eu, described the operational challenge.

The rescue teams first had to locate the crash site, then used specialised rescue tools to gain access to the wreckage before evacuating the injured pilot and providing qualified first aid.
Investigation underway
The cause of the crash has not yet been determined. Police secured the scene for examination by aviation experts. The State Commission for Investigation of Aviation Accidents (Państwowa Komisja Badań Wypadków Lotniczych, PKBWL) was notified and will investigate the circumstances. Police officers remain on site working to clarify the details and causes of the incident.
