Turin delays the start of heating to 19 October as mild weather persists
Turin's mayor has signed an ordinance moving the start of the heating season from 15 to 19 October, as temperatures remain above the seasonal average.
Mayor Stefano Lo Russo signed the ordinance on 14 October, pushing the start of heating from 15 October to 19 October. The decision follows forecasts of daytime highs around or above 20 degrees Celsius for the rest of the week, against a seasonal average of about 18 degrees. The source says a gradual cooling with more unstable weather is expected from the following week.
From 19 October to 15 April, heating systems may run for a maximum of 13 hours a day, between 5 and 23, with residential buildings capped at 19 degrees Celsius and industrial, craft and similar premises at 18 degrees, each with a 2-degree tolerance. The city may adopt further measures depending on how the season develops. Hospitals, care homes, facilities for minors and the elderly, nursery schools and day nurseries, buildings with particular technological or production needs, and diplomatic offices not located in condominium buildings are excluded from these limits.
