The three-day event hosted approximately 50 guests across two private islands. According to financial records and sources cited in the report, Kremlev paid $100,000 for the rental of the second private island where attendees stayed overnight, alongside $70,000 for a fireworks display. Transactions for the event passed through a Dubai entity affiliated with the International Boxing Association, an organization led by Kremlev. President Donald Trump did not attend the gathering, telling reporters at the time that scheduling conflicts and geopolitical matters kept him in Washington.

Response from Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Trump

Following the report's publication on Monday, Bettina Trump issued a statement on Instagram signed jointly with her husband. The couple maintained that the official marriage took place in private on a Friday with only immediate family members present, while the subsequent weekend gathering had been arranged beforehand as an outing for friends. Bettina Trump characterized Kremlev as a close acquaintance whose contributions covered two nights of post-ceremony festivities rather than the nuptials themselves.

Don and I got married privately on Friday, surrounded ONLY by our family. It was intimate, deeply personal and one of the most beautiful days of our lives. The weekend that followed had actually been planned well in advance as a fun weekend with friends. It was never intended to be our wedding weekend. When our original wedding plans changed, we simply decided to get married before it and arrived at an already planned weekend as newlyweds.

In her statement, Bettina Trump rejected suggestions of improper motivation, stating that friendship does not require a political rationale and that personal gifts should not be interpreted through a geopolitical lens. The White House referred inquiring journalists directly to her social media statement.

Chinese state media reported that Kremlev also traveled to China as part of a Russian state delegation accompanying Putin. Kremlev also faces sanctions in Ukraine, where authorities describe him as closely linked to the leadership of Putin's security apparatus.

During the 2016 presidential election campaign, federal investigators and congressional committees investigated a meeting at Trump Tower between Trump Jr. and Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya. Attendees at the Bahamas weekend noted the presence of Kremlev and several Russian-speaking companions who remained separated from other guests throughout the gathering.
