PRES Toruń beats Motor Lublin 58:32 to seal PGE Ekstraliga final berth

Dominant home performance at the Motoarena

PRES Grupa Deweloperska Toruń secured a place in the PGE Ekstraliga final after defeating Orlen Oil Motor Lublin 58:32 in their semi-final second leg on Sunday. The Toruń side entered the home fixture holding a six-point cushion following a 48:42 victory in the first leg in Lublin, finishing the semi-final tie with a 106:74 aggregate margin. The loss ended Motor Lublin's streak of five consecutive seasons reaching the Polish championship final. Under team manager Piotr Baron, Toruń preserved an undefeated home record across the 2026 campaign at the Motoarena. Motor Lublin, coached by Maciej Kuciapa, struggled from the opening gates and were unable to mount a challenge. Referee Krzysztof Meyze officiated the fixture as Toruń completed their second consecutive qualification for the league final.

Opening series sweep and Lindgren accident

The hosts took full control during the opening series by winning all four opening heats to build an 18:6 advantage. Patryk Dudek led the first race from the gate to establish a wide lead, while Norick Bloedorn passed Kacper Woryna on the final turn to secure a 4:2 heat win. Junior riders Mikołaj Duchiński and Antoni Kawczyński followed with a 5:1 result in heat two, before Mikkel Michelsen and Emil Sajfutdinow recorded a 4:2 in heat three. The fourth heat was interrupted when Fredrik Lindgren lost control against the inside curb on the first bend and fell. Mikołaj Duchiński steered clear, but Robert Lambert was unable to avoid the fallen rider, with his front wheel striking Lindgren's head. Although Lindgren walked away after several minutes on the track, medical staff withdrew him from the rest of the meeting.

Lublin struggles and Zmarzlik response

Motor Lublin found little traction on the Toruń track, having now suffered six consecutive defeats at the venue. Toruń widened the gap to 18 points after seven heats, with Dudek, Lambert, Michelsen, and Duchiński all undefeated at that stage. Lublin's first individual heat win came only in heat 10, when Bartosz Zmarzlik switched bikes and took three points in 60.15 seconds, matching Dudek's fastest time of the day from heat one. Zmarzlik led Lublin with 13 points across six starts, while Martin Vaculik recorded eight points and Kacper Woryna added seven. Toruń displayed balanced scoring across their senior ranks, with Dudek collecting 12 points, Michelsen scoring 11, Sajfutdinow posting 10, and Lambert finishing on nine.

Championship final and bronze medal schedules

The victory sends Toruń into the PGE Ekstraliga championship final against Betard Sparta Wrocław. The gold medal series will start on 20 September in Toruń and conclude on 4 October in Wrocław. Motor Lublin drops into the bronze medal playoff against Fogo Unia Leszno, with the first leg in Leszno on 20 September and the return fixture in Lublin on 3 October. The match also provided an early look at the Motoarena surface ahead of the Speedway Grand Prix finale on 26 September. In that individual series, Robert Lambert moved ahead of Zmarzlik in the world championship standings following an uncompleted round in Vojens, Denmark, on Saturday.
