The prize was secured through a single five-panel ticket costing 5 euros, purchased at a retail betting outlet. This payout marks the first first-category win of 2026, ending a jackpot drought that had lasted since May 2025. Across the history of the game since 1997, the lottery has awarded 135 first-category wins, distributing more than 5 billion euros in top-tier prizes.

All-time rankings in Italian lottery history

The 223.17 million euro prize stands as the second-highest jackpot recorded in the history of SuperEnalotto. It is also the single largest prize ever won by an individual ticket or combination played directly at a physical lottery shop. The all-time national record remains the 371,133,424.51 euro jackpot distributed on 16 February 2023, which was shared among 90 syndicate quotas via the Bacheca dei Sistemi platform. The new Brianza prize surpasses the previous individual record of 209,160,441.54 euros won in Lodi on 13 August 2019. It also represents the tenth top-category jackpot awarded in the Lombardy region since the competition began.

Retail validation and venue location

The winning ticket was validated at the Al Chicherin point of sale located on Via Milano 36 in the province of Lecco. While initial reports identified the location as La Valletta Brianza, the venue's management clarified that the ticket was validated at their branch in Oggiono. The venue is situated within a commercial supermarket complex and was already closed at 20:00 when news of the draw broke. Crowds of local residents gathered outside the storefront on Friday evening as word of the ticket spread through the surrounding municipality.

Redemption rules and taxation

Italian lottery regulations require the original physical receipt to be submitted intact to claim the prize. Winners have a strict deadline of 90 calendar days, counted from the day after the publication of the official general competition bulletin, to present the ticket. Because the jackpot exceeds 52,000 euros, it cannot be paid out at the local shop and must be submitted directly to dedicated Sisal prize offices located in Milan on Via Ugo Bassi or in Rome on Viale Sacco e Vanzetti. For prizes of 1 million euros or more, payout is processed within 31 days after the formal complaint window closes, provided no disputes are lodged. Under fiscal legislation in force since 1 March 2020, lottery winnings exceeding 500 euros are subject to a 20 percent state withholding tax deducted from the gross sum.
