Overnight strikes across Dnipropetrovsk

Russian forces launched a coordinated overnight assault targeting four administrative districts across the Dnipropetrovsk region on 22 September 2026. The strikes deployed a combination of missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, and heavy artillery fire against municipal infrastructure and commercial properties. In the regional center of Dnipro, the bombardment caused heavy destruction to commercial warehouses and an enterprise facility. Early reports from regional authorities at 05:46 initially indicated that two individuals were killed and six were wounded during the initial blasts. As emergency services penetrated the collapsed structures later in the morning, officials revised the fatality count upward. Heavy industrial installations located in the nearby cities of Kryvyi Rih and Pavlohrad were also struck during the regional bombardment.

The enemy attacked four districts of the region with missiles, drones and artillery.

Civilian toll and damage in Mykolaiv

The wave of Russian strikes on Tuesday morning extended beyond Dnipropetrovsk into southern Ukraine. In the Mykolaiv region, a Russian long-range drone struck a residential community, causing localized destruction and civilian casualties. Acting governor Georgiy Reshetilov reported that the drone strike killed a three-year-old child. In an adjacent settlement in the same region, four other civilians suffered injuries from the blast, including one individual who was hospitalized in serious condition. In total across both Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions, five people were confirmed killed and ten others were injured during the overnight operations.

Search operations at industrial sites

Emergency personnel in Dnipro focused their recovery efforts on the damaged commercial enterprise where the missile and artillery impacts caused structural collapses. First responders worked through mounds of rubble and twisted metal to reach employees and occupants trapped under the collapsed ceilings. Oleksandr Ganzha, heading the regional military administration and regional police department, stated that search and rescue teams recovered four bodies directly from the ruins of the enterprise. First responders on the scene cautioned that additional workers might still be trapped beneath the debris, maintaining active search teams on site throughout the morning. The targeted facility suffered extensive structural destruction alongside several neighboring warehouse buildings in the industrial sector.

There may still be people under the rubble of the enterprise damaged by an enemy attack. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

Diplomatic talks at the United Nations

The overnight attacks occurred as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly. Zelensky is scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting with United States President Donald Trump on Tuesday on the sidelines of the assembly to discuss diplomatic initiatives. Washington recently restarted diplomatic mediation efforts intended to negotiate an end to the war, which has lasted for more than four years. In statements shared on social media platform X, Zelensky confirmed that he will also meet with European leaders, United States senators, and executives from American corporations. The Ukrainian leader stated that his delegation is presenting concrete security proposals, seeking enhanced air defense deliveries, and securing sustained financial assistance.
