RTVE alters afternoon schedule after La Promesa wedding episode draws 16.7% share
RTVE cancelled Thursday's broadcast of Valle Salvaje to rerun the double wedding episode of La Promesa after the late-night broadcast scored a 16.7% share with 1.08 million viewers.
Schedule restructuring on La 1
Spanish public broadcaster RTVE modified its afternoon television schedule on Thursday, 1 October 2026, cancelling the scheduled broadcast of daily period drama Valle Salvaje. Instead of broadcasting episode 498 of Valle Salvaje alongside the new episode 920 of La Promesa, La 1 rebroadcast the double wedding episode of characters Curro and Angela between 17:45 and 19:35, immediately following Directo al grano. The initial prime-time broadcast of episodes 918 and 919 on Wednesday evening extended past midnight until approximately 01:30, prompting network executives to offer an afternoon rerun for daytime viewers who could not follow the late-night conclusion. The production company Bambu Producciones announced the change through its social channels. The next unreleased episode of La Promesa was postponed to Friday, 2 October 2026.
Wednesday ratings and prime-time competition
The special double episode achieved a 16.7% audience share and averaged 1,082,000 viewers on Wednesday, 30 September 2026, marking the most watched fiction episode of the serial in 2026. This performance represented the second highest audience share in the history of the series, trailing only the special episode produced after the death of the character Jana. The broadcast led the prime-time slot on Spanish television, surpassing Telecinco reality competition La isla de las tentaciones, which recorded a season-high 15.4% share and 926,000 viewers. In the access prime-time window, Antena 3 programme El Hormiguero drew 1,563,000 viewers (13.4% share) featuring guest David Bisbal, while David Broncano's La Revuelta on La 1 recorded 1,376,000 viewers (11.9% share) with guest Diego Luna.

Production details and secret cameo
The wedding sequence featuring Curro, played by Xavi Lock, and Angela, played by Marta Costa, was filmed months earlier on 8 July 2026. Series creator Josep Cister revealed during an interview on the RTVE digital show Teleplanistas, hosted by Javi Hoyos, that his original screenplay did not feature the character Jana, played by Ana Garces. Cister decided during the writing process that Curro needed an approving look from his sister among the guests before exchanging vows, prompting a direct call to Garces. The production team maintained complete confidentiality regarding her return.
Keep in mind that nobody knew she was coming. For three months it was kept secret and only eight people on the series knew. Even on the day of filming, the crew itself did not know.
Actor Xavi Lock explained that working with Garces again immediately brought back their established sibling rapport on set.
With Ana, it was already a sibling thing for me. Just looking at each other, we already understood each other. And when she returned, I remember I was recording and I connected with my sister.
RTVE Play scheduled a complete interview with Garces for release on Friday following the wedding broadcast.
