Prime Video marks a decade in Spain with 'OT' return, 'Zeta' sequel and 13 new originals

At its tenth-anniversary event in Madrid, Prime Video revealed a broad slate of original Spanish series and films, including the return of 'Operación Triunfo' in 2027 and Georgina Rodríguez as new host of 'LOL: Si te ríes, pierdes'.

Ten years of local production

Prime Video celebrated a decade in Spain with the Prime Video Presents 2026 event, unveiling 13 new original and licensed productions alongside renewals and first looks at highly anticipated titles. The platform used the occasion to underline the global reach of its Spanish content. Nicole Clemens, Vice President and Head of International Originals, described the evolution in a statement.

Today, Spanish productions are not only conquering local audiences, but they also hold a prominent place in our global rankings of non-English-language content week after week.

The event, led by Ruth Díaz, VP and country manager for Amazon in Spain, brought together Mario Casas, Ester Expósito, Anna Castillo, Hugo Silva, Maribel Verdú, Antonio Resines and Leonor Watling, along with directors and authors.

Entertainment formats return

Two of the platform's biggest entertainment brands are coming back. 'Operación Triunfo' will return with a new edition hosted by Chenoa, with castings scheduled for June 2027 and a premiere in October 2027. The 2025 edition generated 1.6 billion social media views, doubling the previous season, and a 18% rise in per-viewer consumption, according to Amazon data.

'LOL: Si te ríes, pierdes', absent from Spain for four years, will be back over Christmas. Antonio Resines will present alongside Georgina Rodríguez, who makes her debut as a programme host. Rodríguez, known for her Netflix reality show, takes on a role that demands controlling the competition from outside the game.

Fiction expansions and adaptations

Mario Casas and Luis Zahera reunite with director Dani de la Torre for the 'Zeta' sequel, the most-watched original film in Spain over the last twelve months. Casas said his character would shed the protective shield he carried in the first instalment.

There will be more twists, more action, and we'll get into a lot of trouble. It's going to be more entertaining. Everything I've read of the script I loved. I've fallen in love.

The author Mercedes Ron's universe expands with three films: 'Enfrentados: Marfil', starring Ester Expósito and Hugo Diego García, arrives on September 9; 'Dímelo en secreto' follows in early 2027; and 'Dímelo con besos' will close the trilogy.

In this sequel everything gets very complicated. If you've been reading my books and watching the films, you know there's also a mystery and action subplot, and in this one nothing is what it seems.

Other titles include 'Si los muertos hablaran', a whodunnit with Carmen Machi and Hugo Silva shooting between Madrid and Kenya; 'Mataleón', a four-episode series starring Najwa Nimri based on the murder of Isabel Carrasco; 'Cuando solo quedemos nosotros', a thriller about nine strangers trapped in a mansion; and 'Perfectos mentirosos', an adaptation of the Alex Mírez novel due in November. The second season of 'Reina Roja', subtitled 'Loba Negra', premieres on October 2, and 'Apocalipsis Z: Un nuevo mundo' lands at Halloween. 'Su majestad' will return in 2027 with Leonor Watling joining Anna Castillo.
