Polish investors commit 500 million PLN to Michał Sołowow's small modular nuclear reactor venture
Synthos Green Energy raised 500 million PLN from Polish business leaders at a Warsaw conference, securing domestic backing for plans to construct up to 26 BWRX-300 reactors by 2032.
Private capital backing for nuclear development
A group of Polish business leaders committed 500 million PLN to Synthos Green Energy to finance the development of small modular reactors in Poland. The initiative, presented by billionaire Michał Sołowow on 30 September 2026 at The Company conference in Warsaw, brings together prominent domestic founders and corporate leaders.
The investor group includes InPost founder Rafał Brzoska, ElevenLabs co-founders Mati Staniszewski and Piotr Dąbkowski, Grupa Maspex chief executive Krzysztof Pawiński, Oshee founders Dariusz Gałęzewski and Dominik Doliński, Wirtualna Polska co-owner Michał Brański, Koronea Family Office representative Michał Wypychewicz, and Strike Capital partner Bruno Wejchert.
You took the risk of supporting a difficult project and putting money into it. I hope that we will build clean, well-priced energy, and that everyone in this project will make a proper return.
Funding structure and international partnerships
Synthos Green Energy is actively raising equity to support its nuclear reactor rollout. Sołowow disclosed that the company has secured approximately 400 million EUR so far, primarily from strategic partners. American energy firm GE Vernova committed 100 million EUR in the current funding round. Sołowow estimated total sector capital needs at roughly 200 billion USD, noting that private financing avoids expanding Polish sovereign debt or burdening the state budget with direct power station construction.
The domestic funding round follows an agreement signed in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly between Synthos Green Energy, GE Vernova, Hitachi, and Samsung C&T. The US State Department indicated that the consortium aims to deploy small modular reactors across Europe and support reactor investments valued at more than 150 billion USD in coming years.

Reactor rollout plans across Poland
Synthos Green Energy, founded by Sołowow in 2019 after initial exploratory work began in 2017, focuses on the BWRX-300 water-cooled reactor designed by GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy. The company plans to construct up to 26 BWRX-300 units across six Polish locations, including Włocławek, Stawy Monowskie, and Stalowa Wola.
The domestic deployment is managed in cooperation with Orlen through the joint venture Orlen Synthos Green Energy. Preparatory work is currently underway at three specific locations, with the commissioning of Poland's first commercial unit scheduled for 2032.
Strategic motivations and energy security
Participating investors cited long-term industrial competitiveness and energy security as primary motivations for their capital commitments. Sołowow stated that natural gas imports to Poland stand at 80%, arguing that small modular reactors provide baseload stability without increasing reliance on fossil fuel imports or public grid investments.
Why do I need this? Abroad, they say they envy our Żabka, BLIK, and Parcel Lockers. And I would like them to now also envy our SMRs.
