A 45-year-old American man fell to his death from a stage structure and a 39-year-old Hungarian woman collapsed in the heat, leading organizers to cut short the week-long event.

Two deaths on Saturday
A 45-year-old US citizen climbed a decorative structure surrounding the main stage and fell, dying instantly from his injuries. Police told the regional news portal FEOL that authorities and organizers believe the man intentionally took his own life. The structure was not intended for climbing. Earlier that day, a 39-year-old Hungarian woman collapsed, "probably due to the intense heat," and resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful, according to FEOL. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The two deaths occurred on what was to be the festival's final full day.
In light of these tragic events, all music programs will end at midnight tonight.
Heatwave conditions
Hungary has been under its highest heat alert since Thursday, 30 July, with maximum temperatures reaching 40°C over the weekend. The woman's death was attributed to the extreme conditions, which have persisted for days. The national red alert, the top-level warning, remained in effect through the festival's closing. Authorities had urged caution as the heatwave swept across the region, and the woman's collapse was described as a heat-related weakness attack.
Festival cut short
The festival began on 24 July and was originally scheduled to conclude with concerts continuing past midnight into Monday morning. The Pumpui stage, a popular late-night venue, was among those set to host performances until the early hours. Instead, all music programs, including those on the Pumpui stage, will stop at midnight Sunday. Organizers expressed condolences to the families of the victims and thanked attendees for their understanding. The decision to end early was made in coordination with local authorities, and the announcement was posted on the festival's Facebook page.
