Woman, 20, dies after MDMA use at Thessaloniki venue, friend arrested
A 20-year-old woman lost consciousness after using MDMA at an entertainment venue in eastern Thessaloniki and died in hospital on Saturday morning. Police arrested her 20-year-old male friend, who faces charges including manslaughter by negligence.

Police say a 20-year-old woman and her 20-year-old male friend were at an entertainment venue in eastern Thessaloniki in the early hours of Saturday, 10 October. According to the Hellenic Police (ELAS), they obtained a quantity of MDMA from an unidentified person and both used it there. The young woman lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital in the city, where she died on Saturday morning.

Arrest and charges
Officers of the Thermi Department for Crime Prosecution and Detection arrested the young man on Saturday. A case file was opened against him for manslaughter by negligence, fatal exposure and violation of the law on narcotic substances. He will be brought before the competent prosecutor. Investigations into the case are continuing.
