Opel unveils all-electric STX Concept estate at Paris Motor Show
The all-electric study, shown on Monday, 12 October, previews a taller Vizor, a redesigned Griffin badge and cameras in place of door mirrors, and it is not headed for series production.
A design study, not a production car
Opel unveiled the STX Concept at the Paris Motor Show, where it made its public debut on Monday, 12 October. The all-electric estate is a design study that previews the look of future models rather than a specific production car. Opel CEO Florian Huettl said the concept contains features that will appear on future Opel models. Focus describes the 4.70-metre car as more shooting brake than estate, and it will not make it into series production. The name stands for Sports Tourer eXperimental, borrowing the Sports Tourer label that Vauxhall estates, including the Astra, have used for years.
Eurig Druce, Vauxhall managing director and Stellantis UK group managing director, tied the car to the brand's estate history.
Vauxhall was an estate pioneer in the UK as early as the 1950s. With the STX Concept, we are reimagining the estate for the electric era, combining bold, visionary design with functionality, efficiency and driving pleasure.
Front end, badge and lighting
The Vizor front panel is taller and more prominent than before, with angled, upright strips of light at its outer edges that fade toward the middle. Il Sole 24 ORE describes the light signature as composed of inclined vertical slats. The Griffin badge gets a cleaner, more angular shape designed to be easier to see when illuminated, and it loses its flag for the first time after appearing on Vauxhalls for more than 120 years. According to the Independent, the badge sits at the centre of the new Compass design, with the bonnet crease also emphasised, while Il Sole 24 ORE calls the same emblem the Blitz. Cameras replace the traditional door mirrors, C-pillars carry glass inserts, and the STX lettering on the flanks is illuminated.
Drivetrain and aerodynamics
The concept uses an electric architecture with all-wheel drive and a declared top speed above 200 km/h, according to ANSA and Il Sole 24 ORE, while the Independent cites more than 124mph. Aerodynamic features include three-section alloy wheels and 22-inch Goodyear tyres in 285/35 size, per Il Sole 24 ORE. Blue rear diffusers extend from under the tail depending on driving conditions, and vertical elements behind the wheels extend sideways. ANSA reports that moving elements activate according to speed to reduce drag and improve stability. The downward-sloping tail is intended, according to ANSA, to combine dynamism with load capacity.
Interior and next steps
The interior builds on the Painting with Light concept, which ANSA says was first explored in the Opel Experimental of 2023 and the Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo of 2025. It features immersive lighting and lightweight seats. The Independent reports that the redesigned badge will appear on Vauxhall's next all-new production model, potentially a new Corsa due to be revealed in 2027. Focus expects the rear elements and the Blitz badge to appear on upcoming models. The timeline below places the concept between earlier Opel design showcases and the expected 2027 reveal.
