Neymar provokes rival fans and officials after Santos' cup win, Remo president calls him 'good-for-nothing'
After setting up the winning goal, the Santos star shouted 'eliminated' at Remo supporters and clashed with club officials in the stadium tunnel, drawing a furious rebuke from the home president.
Match and qualification
Santos faced Clube do Remo in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16 on 4 August, after a 0-0 draw at home. Neymar started on the bench and entered at halftime. In the 74th minute, he provided the assist for Rony's goal, the only score of the match, securing a 1-0 win and a quarter-final berth.
Tunnel confrontation
As the teams left the pitch, Neymar exchanged gestures with Remo supporters who had been insulting him throughout the game, including chants of "Vai tomar no cu." Near the dressing rooms, separated by security barriers, he shouted "Eliminado! Eliminado!" at rival fans and club officials, kissed the Santos badge, flexed his muscles, stuck out his tongue, and danced provocatively. Remo delegates responded with insults and raised middle fingers, and a barrier was knocked over. Neymar was eventually ushered into the locker room by his own staff while still singing and waving. After leaving the stadium, his car was surrounded by angry Remo fans who berated him.

Remo president's furious reaction
Remo president Antonio Carlos Teixeira did not hold back.
Santos does not need this. That good-for-nothing Neymar, who is worshipped by a bunch of kids, came to do his clowning and provoke us. We are to blame for idolizing a bunch of bums like that guy.
Teixeira also said his club felt unjustly treated. The return league match between the sides is scheduled for 20 September, where Neymar is unlikely to receive a warm welcome.
Neymar's response and recent context
Neymar posted a sarcastic "Thanks for the support" on Instagram alongside a video of the abuse he received, and later shared a photo from the plane with the caption "Mission accomplished" and a wink emoji. The incident follows a turbulent period: Brazil exited the 2026 World Cup in the round of 16 against Norway, after which Neymar retired from international football. In May, he slapped teenage teammate Robinho Junior. His contract with Santos runs until December, and he has spoken openly about his uncertain future.

His father and agent, Neymar Sr., joked that his son would keep playing because "he doesn't have a medical degree yet."
