Milan university student suffers skull fracture in assault by far-right activists
A 20-year-old university student underwent surgery for a skull fracture after twelve militants from Blocco Studentesco attacked him outside Milan's Albert Einstein high school for tearing down their posters.
The attack outside Liceo Einstein
On the night between 28 and 29 September 2026, a 20-year-old student from Università Statale di Milano sat on the benches along Via Einstein with two friends outside Liceo Scientifico Albert Einstein. Around midnight, militants affiliated with Blocco Studentesco, the youth organization of the far-right CasaPound movement, arrived at the school to affix promotional posters marking the group's twentieth anniversary. According to an eyewitness account provided to Radio Popolare by a friend of the victim, the student stepped closer to observe the group and placed a phone call to alert her. Members of the group noticed the call, approached the student to ask whom he was contacting, and provoked him before briefly walking away. Once the militants departed, the young man remained alone, pulled down the newly affixed posters from the school walls, and walked to a nearby playground fountain to wash the glue off his hands.
Ambush and emergency surgery
As the student exited the playground and mounted his bicycle to leave, three cars carrying twelve Blocco Studentesco militants returned to intercept him. The occupants chased the student, encircled him to block any exit, and launched a physical assault, shattering a glass bottle over his head. Despite his injuries, the student managed to call emergency services directly, prompting the deployment of paramedics and Carabinieri officers to Via Einstein. He was transferred to Milan's Policlinico hospital, where medical staff performed emergency surgery on Tuesday morning to treat a severe skull fracture. Hospital personnel reported that the student's condition was stabilizing and improving, with doctors preparing for his discharge in the following hours.

Political reactions and parliamentary inquiry
The assault became public after the Collettivo Politico of Liceo Einstein reported the incident on Instagram, while the student's mother submitted a formal legal complaint for personal injuries at the Porta Monforte Carabinieri station. Milan Mayor Beppe Sala condemned the attack and affirmed the city's civic stance against political violence.
Violence must always be condemned, without ambiguity. Milan is and remains a deeply anti-fascist city.
The incident prompted parliamentary action from opposition lawmakers. Sinistra Italiana national secretary Nicola Fratoianni, together with senators Peppe De Cristofaro and Tino Magni, announced a parliamentary question addressed to Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi to demand official clarification on the event. Alessandro Capelli, secretary of the Milan Democratic Party, also condemned the assault.
What a horror this return to the past is. An assault that recalls the methods of squadrismo.
Police investigation and student mobilisation
Carabinieri investigators collected and began reviewing footage from public and private surveillance cameras installed around Via Einstein to identify the twelve assailants and trace the three vehicles used in the ambush. Political representatives from Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra published a statement extending solidarity to the victim and endorsing upcoming student mobilisations organized in response to the assault. Friends of the injured student and local student collectives announced plans to coordinate solidarity initiatives and public gatherings outside the school. Law enforcement authorities continue to evaluate forensic and video evidence related to the case.
