Crete holds memorial and trisagion services for Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis

A person left us early, one of our own children, who left a very significant mark on the artistic world and was loved across all of Greece. Unfortunately, fate was such that he left at a young age, while he still had much to give. Tonight we all want to travel together through his music and songs and remember him. Because when he came to Sitia, he was the Giorgos of everyday life. He was one of our own children. He left a very significant mark on our region as well. We thank him for everything he gave us.
Memorial service in Pefkoi
The memorial events continued on the morning of Sunday, 20 September 2026, in the village of Pefkoi, located in the Sitia region. Local residents, acquaintances, relatives, and friends filled the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen for a formal memorial service.
