Defensive concerns mount for Atlético

The result marked Atlético Madrid's second consecutive defeat in all competitions after losing 3-0 against Athletic Club in Bilbao. Speaking in the press room at Anfield, Simeone discussed his team's recurring defensive problems across recent fixtures.

“They are scoring many goals against us, three in Bilbao, one in Sevilla, Villarreal scored two and today Liverpool another two. That comes down to the team, we have to work, even though we are under construction whether some like to hear it or not.”

Simeone also praised the contribution of Alvarez, who played the entire match in attack.

“His match was very good, he took charge of the ball the whole time, from minute one to 90.”
