Robert Lewandowski is travelling to the United States with his agent Pini Zahavi for direct negotiations with Chicago Fire, according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano and Polish media reports. The Polish striker will inspect the club's facilities and the city before making a final decision on the move. His contract with FC Barcelona runs until 30 June and will not be extended, a departure he announced in May.
Contract on the table
Chicago Fire are offering a contract spanning two or three seasons, multiple sources confirm. The deal would mark Lewandowski's first club outside Europe after a career spent in Poland, Germany, and Spain. Romano reports that only a signature is missing, with both sides having already reached an agreement in principle.
Barcelona legacy
Lewandowski joined Barcelona from Bayern Munich in summer 2022 for €45 million. Across four seasons he played 191 competitive matches for the Catalan club, scoring 119 goals and providing 24 assists. His trophy haul at Barcelona includes three La Liga titles (2023, 2025, 2026). Before Barcelona, he won eight Bundesliga titles and a Champions League with Bayern Munich, plus two league championships with Borussia Dortmund.

Other suitors and denials
European clubs and Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal also showed interest in the forward, but Lewandowski is opting for the American path. Meanwhile, Porto president André Villas-Boas used a club visit in Monção on Friday to once again dismiss speculation linking the Portuguese club with the Pole, accusing social media of "feeding dreams that are unrealistic."
