Legia Warszawa conceded a 70th-minute equaliser to Korona Kielce's Mariusz Stępiński and settled for a 1:1 draw on 8 August, dropping points for the first time in the 2026/27 PKO BP Ekstraklasa season.

The draw leaves Marek Papszun's side on seven points from three matches, still top but potentially caught by Jagiellonia Białystok should they beat Widzew Łódź on Sunday.

How the goals came
The first meaningful chance fell to Korona in the 13th minute, when Kamil Jakubczyk struck from distance and Otto Hindrich turned the ball over the bar. Legia had controlled possession without creating much, but their first real opportunity yielded a goal: Piątkowski delivered from the right and Zjawiński headed in from about eight metres. It was Legia's only on-target attempt of the entire match.
Korona pressed for an equaliser before the break. In the 43rd minute, Morgan Fassbender broke clear and struck from roughly 16 metres, hitting the crossbar. Replays showed the ball made contact with the hand of Legia defender Robert Deziel, but referee Jarosław Przybył did not award a penalty. After the restart, Patrik Hellebrand and Stępiński both tried from distance before the latter finally broke through, directing a corner-kick delivery past Hindrich in the 70th minute. Wiktor Długosz nearly made it 2:1 three minutes later, his shot from about 20 metres drifting just wide of the post.

Coaches react
Papszun, who celebrated his 52nd birthday on matchday, said his side should have held on after taking the lead.
We are inconsolable about the result, because we were leading and should have brought the victory home. We didn't do that and we return with one point.
He added that seven points from three matches represents a good start, with a target of ten points from the first four fixtures. Korona coach Jacek Zieliński felt his side were capable of more than a draw, noting a deep sense of unfulfilment in the dressing room despite a strong performance against the league leaders. He had been forced to change his system before kickoff due to illness affecting defender Ariel Mosór.
Stępiński's breakthrough
For Stępiński, the goal ended a drought dating back to 22 March. Since joining Korona, the striker has scored only five times. He described the result as just a point but said the team's development mattered more.
We were rewarded with one goal. It's a shame it wasn't a second. I think we only got a point, but what builds me more is how the team is developing, how it reacts to the setbacks of the first half.
He also pointed to fine margins, noting the ball that struck the crossbar could have landed differently. Korona were without Tamar Svetlin, who was undergoing medical tests with French club AS Saint-Etienne, while Legia missed the injured Wahan Biczachczjan. In the next round, Legia host Radomiak Radom and Korona travel to Widzew Łódź.
