Iran sets three conditions via Qatar and Pakistan to end war with US

Three conditions set for Washington

Mohsen Rezaee, the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, outlined Tehran's prerequisites for reopening negotiations to end the military conflict with the United States during an interview broadcast on Al Jazeera on Saturday. The Iranian official presented three fundamental demands that Tehran considers non-negotiable for de-escalation across the Middle East. The first requirement is a comprehensive and final cessation of hostilities across all active fronts in the wider region. The second condition entails the immediate unfreezing and release of all Iranian financial assets and state funds currently blocked in foreign bank accounts due to sanctions. The third term requires the complete lifting of the naval blockade that has been established along Iranian shipping routes and maritime corridors. Iranian leadership characterized the execution of these three measures as the minimum necessary framework to restore regional stability and secure a path out of the ongoing crisis.

Mediation channels through Qatar and Pakistan

Diplomatic consultations regarding the proposal are actively being conducted through indirect regional channels rather than face-to-face discussions between US and Iranian officials. Rezaee confirmed that Iranian authorities communicated the full list of conditions to mediators from Qatar and Pakistan, who are facilitating communications with the United States. Tehran is currently waiting for official reactions and answers from Washington, specifically from US President Donald Trump. While diplomatic contacts are moving through intermediaries, there has been no independent confirmation of direct bilateral talks between the two countries.

Rezaee detailed the political calculations guiding Tehran's posture, stating that Iran has permanently concluded that a thorough revision of its strategy toward the United States is mandatory. He attributed this strategic shift to Washington's previous unilateral withdrawal from a mutual memorandum of understanding.

“Iran is now convinced of the need to change its strategy towards Washington, after the US withdrawal from the Memorandum of Understanding.”

According to Rezaee, the strategic calculations and assessments made by the White House regarding Iranian capabilities, military preparedness, and national endurance were fundamentally flawed. He also directly attributed the instigation of the military conflict to Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Warnings on regional bases and naval testing

Addressing the security situation, Rezaee asserted that Iran has studied the vulnerabilities of the US military and is prepared to withstand aerial strikes. He disclosed that Iranian armed forces recently conducted a test firing of an anti-ship missile in proximity to a US aircraft carrier operating in the area. Rezaee emphasized that Iran takes national defense seriously and warned that if attacked, Iranian forces will strike US military installations and broader American regional interests with greater force.
