Siri AI moves deeper into apps

Apple released the first developer betas of iOS 27.3 and watchOS 27.3 on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, and the first developer beta of macOS 27.3 arrived the same day. Siri AI can now complete tasks in Weather, Notes, Mail, Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Maps, Messages, Music, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari and Shortcuts. In Mail it can unsubscribe users from mailing lists and undo sent messages, while in Weather it can add locations to a user's list and control weather notifications. In Safari it can clear browsing history, manage tabs and windows, and close duplicate tabs. Apple is also extending Siri AI to Traditional Chinese, Vietnamese, Turkish and Norwegian.

Safari gets vertical tabs and adaptive dark mode

Safari gains a Vertical Tabs layout that can replace the horizontal tab bar on iPhone, iPad and Mac, with icons shown by default and an option to display website titles. The layout works with Topics and Tab Groups. Adaptive Dark Mode covers sites without a dark design: Safari offers a "Try" option that darkens the background, adjusts text contrast and inverts logos and graphics. Each site is adapted differently, and sites with native dark modes are left alone. Developers can add a tag to opt out.

iPadOS 27.3 adds Siri Mode in the Camera app and Visual Intelligence with Apple Pencil support.

Redesigned Health app returns

The redesigned Health app is back in the beta after its earlier preview in the iOS 27.2 beta, where it was removed before that update launched. The Insights tab shows Activity Rings, heart rate, sleep score and vitals, while the Longevity tab assesses users across seven categories and includes Health Age. Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 wearers see a readiness score. Apple's Newsroom describes at-home movement checks that use the iPhone camera and Apple Watch:

“the experience runs entirely on device; no video is ever recorded, stored, or shared.”

A $119 laboratory panel from Quest Diagnostics will eventually feed Health Age, and the app requires an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone. Apple said the app would arrive in late 2026, MacRumors ties that to the expected December release of iOS 27.3, and 9to5Mac reports it will ship to all users in December.

Live Rewind and Siri Recap on Apple Watch

watchOS 27.3 beta 1 brings Live Rewind and Siri Recap to Apple Watch, two Audio Intelligence features Apple previewed for Series 12 and Ultra 4 earlier this year. Powered by the S11 chip, the set also includes Sound Recognition and Shazam Music Recognition, which already run on the watch. Live Rewind shows a transcript of the last 15 seconds when the Digital Crown is pressed twice. Siri Recap runs in the background, writing summaries that are deleted after seven days unless saved. Apple says audio is not stored and that no speakers are identified. Both features are opt-in, and Live Rewind plays an audible chime even in silent mode. Bloomberg describes the Audio Intelligence capabilities as controversial, always-listening AI tools.

macOS security updates

Alongside macOS 27.3 beta 1, Apple rolled out first release candidates of macOS Sequoia 15.8.3 (build 24H314) and macOS Tahoe 26.7.3 (build 25G416). The release notes state only that the updates provide security fixes for the Mac, with vulnerability details expected at release. Apple's earlier Sequoia 15.8.2 and Tahoe 26.7.2 updates addressed more than 150 security vulnerabilities.
