Śliz explained the rationale behind his decision to step down from the post in a statement on X:

When the leader-founder wants to stand on the front line, the natural and only sensible decision of the club head is to make room for him and pass the baton. Szymon Hołownia and I sat down and agreed on which division of roles in the club would give us the greatest strength. We agreed inside the club that at this stage of the term Szymon should take direct responsibility for directing work in the Sejm. This is not stepping aside, this is strengthening the entire team.

Realization of earlier leadership discussions

The decision for Hołownia to take over the parliamentary club follows internal caucus discussions held over preceding months. Hołownia had previously communicated to party colleagues that he would consider assuming the leadership role on the condition of unanimous support from all lawmakers. The formal caucus ballot fulfilled that specific requirement on Thursday evening. Hołownia had previously outlined the condition under which he would consider leading the group:

A few months ago I told my fellow MPs that if it was their unanimous decision, I would be ready to consider leading the Polska 2050 club.
