Szymon Hołownia takes over as head of Polska 2050 parliamentary club following unanimous vote

Leadership handover from Paweł Śliz

The appointment of Hołownia followed the formal resignation of the previous caucus chairman, Paweł Śliz. The party described the stepping down of Śliz as a considered and thoroughly discussed move designed to reorganize legislative responsibilities. Śliz addressed the handover publicly on social media, explaining that the caucus evaluated how to structure its internal leadership for maximum parliamentary effectiveness. In his public comments, Śliz also stated that his planned absence from parliamentary proceedings in the Sejm on Friday bore no connection to the leadership decision. Hołownia responded directly to the statement online, writing a brief public note thanking Śliz for his cooperation.

Śliz explained the rationale behind his decision to step down from the post in a statement on X:

“When the leader-founder wants to stand on the front line, the natural and only sensible decision of the club head is to make room for him and pass the baton. Szymon Hołownia and I sat down and agreed on which division of roles in the club would give us the greatest strength. We agreed inside the club that at this stage of the term Szymon should take direct responsibility for directing work in the Sejm. This is not stepping aside, this is strengthening the entire team.”

Realization of earlier leadership discussions

The decision for Hołownia to take over the parliamentary club follows internal caucus discussions held over preceding months. Hołownia had previously communicated to party colleagues that he would consider assuming the leadership role on the condition of unanimous support from all lawmakers. The formal caucus ballot fulfilled that specific requirement on Thursday evening. By securing the unanimous agreement of all seated parliamentarians, Hołownia consolidated direct operational control over the party's legislative caucus in the Sejm.

Hołownia had previously outlined the condition under which he would consider leading the group:

“A few months ago I told my fellow MPs that if it was their unanimous decision, I would be ready to consider leading the Polska 2050 club.”

Parliamentary responsibilities in the Sejm

Under the new division of roles, Hołownia assumes direct responsibility for managing legislative strategy and daily caucus work in the Sejm. The party stated that the move aims to place its principal founder at the forefront of parliamentary debates and decision-making processes. Śliz continues to serve as a sitting member of the Polska 2050 parliamentary club following the transfer of the chairmanship.
