Greece temperatures climb to 32°C today with 37°C expected by Tuesday
Mostly clear skies and a slight temperature rise are forecast across Greece today, with mainland areas hitting 32°C and the mercury expected to reach 37°C by Tuesday.
Today's forecast
Greece will enjoy generally clear weather across most of the country on Sunday, the national meteorological service (EMY) reports. A few clouds will develop during the midday and afternoon hours, mainly over mountainous areas of the Peloponnese, Eastern Macedonia, and Thrace. There is a chance of local showers in those specific high-altitude zones. The rest of the country will remain dry and sunny.
Regional temperatures
The temperature is set to rise slightly, reaching between 28 and 30 degrees Celsius in most regions. On the mainland, highs will locally touch 31 to 32 degrees. In Western Macedonia and the interior of Epirus, values will be 2 to 3 degrees lower, staying around 29 degrees. Crete will see local highs up to 30 degrees, while the Cyclades will stay near 28 degrees.
Winds and afternoon showers
Wind conditions are moderate to fresh. In the Ionian Sea and over the mainland, winds will be variable at 3 to 4 Beaufort, shifting to westerly directions in the afternoon. In the Aegean, north winds will reach 4 to 6 Beaufort, locally strengthening to 7 Beaufort before weakening slightly late in the day. The afternoon cloud buildup may trigger isolated showers over the mountains of Eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and the Peloponnese.
Looking ahead to Tuesday
While no widespread heatwave is forecast, the warming trend will continue. One forecast source indicates temperatures could reach 37 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, marking a notable jump from today's highs. The current outlook suggests dry and sunny conditions will persist, with only localized mountain clouds during the warmest hours.
