Greece weather: clear skies and 35°C highs on Thursday, storms arrive Friday
High temperatures and afternoon showers are forecast for Greece on Thursday, with a deterioration bringing widespread rain and thunderstorms on Friday, according to the national weather service EMY.
Greece will see generally clear weather on Thursday, June 11, with temporary clouds developing over the mainland in the afternoon. Local rain or showers are expected, mainly in mountainous areas, and isolated thunderstorms may occur. In western and central Macedonia, rain and showers will continue into the night.
Temperatures will rise slightly in the mainland, reaching 29–32°C in most areas, and locally 33–35°C in eastern parts like Thessaly and eastern Central Greece. Winds will be from westerly directions in the Ionian Sea at 3–4 Beaufort, and from northerly directions in the Aegean Sea, locally up to 6 Beaufort.
Friday deterioration
On Friday, June 12, clouds will increase first in Macedonia and gradually spread to the rest of the mainland and the northern Aegean, bringing local rain and scattered thunderstorms. A gradual improvement is expected from late afternoon in western areas. Winds will shift: southerly 4–5 Beaufort in the south, and northerly 3–5 Beaufort elsewhere, strengthening to 6 Beaufort at sea and locally 7 Beaufort in the north. Temperatures will drop slightly, particularly in central and northern Greece, reaching 28–29°C in most areas and 30–32°C locally in the east.

Weekend outlook
On Saturday, June 13, eastern mainland areas, Evia, the Sporades, the northern Aegean islands, and Crete will see clouds with rain and scattered thunderstorms, especially in the northwestern Aegean. Conditions will improve from midday. Elsewhere, a few clouds will increase in the mainland during the afternoon, bringing local rain or showers and possibly isolated mountain thunderstorms. Winds will be from northerly directions at 4–6 Beaufort, locally up to 7 Beaufort at sea. Temperatures will fall slightly, particularly in the east.
On Sunday, June 14, patchy clouds will affect the northeast and southwestern Peloponnese, with a chance of local rain. The rest of the country will be mostly clear, with a few clouds temporarily increasing in the mainland in the afternoon, where local rain or showers may occur in the western and northern mountains. Winds will be north-northwesterly at 3–5 Beaufort, locally 6 Beaufort in the Aegean, shifting to westerly in the Ionian by midday.
