Górnik Zabrze secures away win in Kielce

Górnik Zabrze extended their lead at the top of the Ekstraklasa standings with a 2:0 away victory over Korona Kielce on Tuesday evening. The match was originally scheduled for the second round of the domestic season, but was moved to a later date due to Górnik's participation in European cup qualifiers. Peter Federico scored in both halves for the visiting side, converting opportunities in the 41st minute and the 93rd minute. Michal Gasparik's team earned their seventh win in eight league fixtures, advancing to 21 points in the standings. The three points put Górnik five points clear of second-placed Legia Warszawa. The defeat ended Korona Kielce's home unbeaten run, which had stood since a 1:2 loss to Lech Poznań on 22 February 2026. The Kielce side dropped from eighth to ninth place in the table, remaining on 12 points after eight matches. The match marked a reunion for Korona midfielder Patrik Hellebrand, who joined the club during the summer window after Korona paid his 1.7 million euro buyout clause to Górnik. In the evening's other Ekstraklasa match, KGHM Zagłębie Lubin secured a 3:2 away win against Raków Częstochowa. Marko Bulat scored the opening goal for Raków in the second minute of first-half stoppage time before Zagłębie responded in the second half. Michał Nalepa leveled the score in the 70th minute, and Marcel Reguła scored in the 87th minute to give Zagłębie a 2:1 lead. Patryk Makuch converted a penalty in the 96th minute for Raków, but Damian Michalski scored the winning goal for Zagłębie in the 13th minute of stoppage time. The loss left Raków at the bottom of the table with three points, while Zagłębie moved closer to the top tier of the league.
