GKS Katowice come from behind to beat Radomiak Radom 3-1 for first league win of the season
GKS Katowice overturned a half-time deficit to beat Radomiak Radom 3-1 at Arena Katowice, with Ilja Szkurin and Bartosz Nowak scoring after the break.
GKS Katowice secured their first win of the 2026/27 PKO BP Ekstraklasa season, coming from behind to beat Radomiak Radom 3-1 at Arena Katowice on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed at half-time after Ibrahima Camara's 37th-minute strike, but an own goal by Abdoul Tapsoba and second-half efforts from Ilja Szkurin and Bartosz Nowak turned the match around.
Pre-match tributes and early pressure
Before kick-off, a minute's silence was observed for the 82nd anniversary of the Warsaw Uprising, and the Polish national anthem was sung. GKS coach Rafał Górak made three changes from the midweek Conference League win over MSK Žilina, bringing in Ilja Szkurin, Mateusz Wdowiak and Pau Resta. The hosts started on the front foot, with Resta's header saved brilliantly by Filip Majchrowicz in the 7th minute. Eman Markovic and Erik Jirka also forced saves, but Radomiak weathered the storm.
Camara strikes before the break
Radomiak gradually found their rhythm. Luquinhas fired over, and then Jan Grzesik was sent through on goal only for Gabriel Kobylak to block. The breakthrough came in the 37th minute. Grzesik launched a long throw, Tapsoba flicked on, and Resta's attempted clearance fell to Camara, who lashed a volley past Kobylak. The goal coincided with the arrival of Radomiak's away supporters, who briefly outsang the home crowd. In first-half stoppage time, GKS appealed for a penalty after a handball by Adrian Dieguez, but VAR confirmed the offence occurred outside the box.
Second-half comeback
GKS emerged with greater urgency after the interval. Bartosz Nowak went close with a free-kick, and the pressure told in the 58th minute. A corner was delivered into the six-yard box, and Tapsoba, under pressure, deflected the ball into his own net. The equaliser lifted the home crowd, and GKS pushed for a winner. It arrived in the 66th minute when a defensive mix-up left Szkurin unmarked, and the Belarusian striker slotted home from close range. Radomiak, who had been passive after the break, could not muster a response. In the third minute of added time, Szkurin turned creator, setting up Nowak to rifle a shot under the crossbar and seal a 3-1 victory.

European horizon
The result gives GKS their first league points of the season after a 1-2 loss at Wisła Kraków on the opening day. Radomiak, who started with a 2-1 home win over Wieczysta Kraków, suffer their first defeat. GKS now shift focus to Thursday's Conference League third qualifying round first leg against Hapoel Tel Aviv, to be played in Miskolc, Hungary. Radomiak next host Górnik Zabrze.
