An 82-year-old man arrived at the paid facility before 10:00 accompanied by his wife, intending to spend the day by the sea. The confrontation began shortly after a 76-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman arrived at the same section of the beach carrying a disability pass. Eyewitnesses reported to the Greek newspaper Kathimerini that shouting between the bathers became audible across the entire shoreline before escalating into physical blows. Multiple individuals in the immediate vicinity reportedly joined the melee as arguments broke out over a shortage of available loungers.

Emergency response and hospital transfer

During the physical exchange, the 82-year-old man was struck and suddenly collapsed onto the sand. Beach staff and bystanders immediately initiated emergency first-aid measures, administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation and using an automated external defibrillator located at the beach facility. Paramedics dispatched to the scene took over medical care and transported the unconscious bather by ambulance to the nearby Asklepieion General Hospital in Voula. Hospital physicians continued resuscitation efforts in the emergency department, but the man was pronounced dead at approximately 11:00 from cardiac arrest. The 76-year-old suspect told Greek news outlet News24/7 that the victim had placed personal belongings across five or six chairs and sunbeds without anyone occupying them, except for the victim and his wife. In contrast, other witnesses indicated that the dispute arose when the arriving group attempted to take loungers that had already been claimed by the victim's party. Investigators are reviewing testimony from the facility manager and other bathers to reconstruct how the verbal disagreement turned into a fatal confrontation.
