On Saturday evening, visitors walking near Modern beach in Constanța spotted a third component lodged between tetrapod breakwaters on the rocks, where border authorities confirmed it also lacked an explosive payload.

Lifeguard warnings and civilian handling

The repeated weekend findings prompted coastal lifeguard services to release urgent safety directives regarding unidentified marine objects. Officials raised concerns after multiple incidents where tourists physically pulled unidentified debris out of the sea without knowing whether hazardous materials were present. During an earlier incident on Wednesday in the resort town of Olimp, two female tourists had pulled a drone out of the sea and dragged it several metres across the sand to place it beside beach loungers prior to the arrival of emergency crews. On Wednesday, 26 August, military sappers established an exclusion perimeter on the beach in Olimp after specialists confirmed that a recovered drone was equipped with an active explosive warhead, detonating the device in a controlled explosion. Additional debris sightings were also reported near Costinești during the same week. The Romanian coast had previously experienced maritime military detonations in June 2026, when an unmanned Ukrainian naval drone self-detonated after being located inside the Port of Constanța, damaging an industrial warehouse and an adjacent vessel without causing injuries.

Authorities confirmed that none of the three fragments recovered on Saturday contained live explosives, reducing immediate risk to local infrastructure.
