For Saturday 8 August 2026, the Fire Risk Prediction Map of the General Secretariat for Civil Protection places all of Crete at category 4, denoting a very high risk of fire. State agencies, the Regions, and the Municipalities are on heightened alert. The General Secretariat for Civil Protection has issued an appeal to citizens to be particularly careful and to avoid any outdoor activity that could cause a fire through negligence.
