Poland expects warm spell up to 25 degrees before cold front arrives on 8 October
A high-pressure system will maintain sunny conditions and temperatures reaching 25 degrees Celsius across Poland until a low-pressure front arrives from the west around 8 October, lowering daytime readings to between 9 and 17 degrees.
High-pressure system brings late warmth
Poland will remain under the influence of an expanding high-pressure pattern anchored by the Borchert system centered over Romania, which will direct warm polar maritime air into the country from western and south-western Europe. Stable conditions will prevail over most regions through at least Thursday, with daytime temperatures climbing to between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius in several areas during this period of late warmth. Atmospheric pressure in Warsaw will measure 1013 hectopascals at noon on Sunday before beginning a gradual decline over subsequent days. While high pressure dominates across the European continent, a shallow trough and an undulating cold front in northern Poland will maintain higher humidity in the boundary layer between 500 and 1,000 meters, creating conditions for persistent low cloud cover.
- High-pressure system Borchert maintains mild weather with highs up to 23 degrees Celsius.
- Dry conditions continue with daytime temperatures reaching 22 degrees Celsius and morning fog.
- A low-pressure system and cold front advance from the west to displace warm air eastward.
- Cooler air arrives across Poland, lowering daytime highs into the 9 to 17 degrees Celsius range.
- An unsettled week of alternating rain showers and stronger winds concludes the weather shift.
Dense morning fog and temperature disparities
The elevated humidity levels in the lower atmosphere will generate thick fog and low stratus cloud layers during the early morning hours, reducing local visibility to approximately 200 meters. The Institute of Meteorology and Water Management reported that dense fog will affect north-western districts and parts of the Swietokrzyskie region before lifting as daytime heating progresses. Morning readings will vary widely across the country, registering 3 degrees Celsius in Terespol, Kozienice, and Zamosc, while Zielona Gora will record 14 degrees Celsius. Sunday daytime maximum temperatures will range from 16 to 17 degrees Celsius in northern districts, Podlasie, and the Sudeten Foreland to around 19 or 20 degrees across central regions, reaching 22 to 23 degrees Celsius in the south and south-east. Northern areas may also see light rain totaling up to one liter per square meter.
- Terespol (morning low)
- 3 °C
- Zielona Góra (morning reading)
- 14 °C
- Podlasie and North (daytime high)
- 17 °C
- Central Poland (daytime high)
- 20 °C
- Southeastern Poland (daytime high)
- 23 °C
Outlook for early week conditions
Overnight into Monday, cloud cover will remain moderate to dense, with renewed fog patches lowering visibility to 200 meters in central and northern Poland while southern areas remain clear. Nighttime minimum temperatures will range between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius across most areas, holding near 12 degrees Celsius along the Baltic coastline, while falling to between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius in the south and reaching 0 degrees Celsius in the Bieszczady valleys. On Monday, dry conditions will persist with daytime highs between 15 and 16 degrees Celsius in Suwalszczyzna, 18 to 19 degrees Celsius in central Poland, and 21 to 22 degrees Celsius along western and south-eastern borders. Winds will blow light to moderate from the west, turning gusty along coastal waters.
Cold front to break autumn pattern on 8 October
Synoptic forecasts indicate that the stable high-pressure block will begin breaking down by the middle of the week, clearing a path for a low-pressure system and an associated frontal zone to advance from the west around 8 October. This system will push the warm air mass eastward and draw a much cooler air mass across the country starting around 8 and 9 October. Daily maximum temperatures will decline by more than ten degrees, falling into a band between 9 and 17 degrees Celsius across the territory during the second decade of the month. Between 8 and 15 October, passing frontal waves will bring recurring rain showers and periods of stronger wind gusts, establishing typical autumn weather patterns across Poland.
