Fire spreads through adjoining halls

A fire broke out on Monday morning, 2 November, at an event venue on Calea Piscului in Sector 4 of Bucharest, close to Parcul Tineretului. According to the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations Bucharest-Ilfov (ISUBIF), crews arriving at the site found the blaze already spreading across the complex, which contains several adjoining event halls, and there was a risk that it would reach nearby buildings. The joined layout of the structure helped the flames spread quickly and made the fire harder to contain.

Resources deployed

Firefighters committed 12 water and foam fire trucks, two intervention and high-altitude rescue vehicles, one extrication vehicle, the Special Rescue Detachment and two SMURD medical crews.

Crews were working to locate and fully extinguish hidden hotspots and to ventilate the affected spaces, which were filled with dense smoke.

Casualties and cause

As of the latest official information, no victims had been identified and no one had asked for medical assistance, according to ISUBIF data reported by Libertatea. Authorities said they had no information about possible victims, while the operation remained active. A mixed evaluation commission is set to establish the probable cause of the fire once the intervention ends.
