Bayern Munich opened their Champions League campaign with a 5-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in Munich. The visitors maintained a defensive structure throughout the first half, defending with ten outfield players in their penalty area. Bayern created few early openings beyond a Luis Diaz effort and a Joshua Kimmich long-range shot that struck the post around the 30-minute mark. Bodo/Glimt goalkeeper Nikita Haikin suffered an injury during the opening period and was replaced at halftime by Julian Lund. Just 76 seconds after the restart, Jamal Musiala broke the deadlock by firing a deflected pass from Harry Kane into the far corner. Musiala's medical return
The match marked Musiala's first start since collapsing on the pitch during two consecutive preseason friendlies. The 23-year-old attacking midfielder had publicly disclosed a diagnosis of absence seizures caused by a neurological dysfunction, a condition known to the player and club since at least the previous season. After missing three games to adjust his medication, Musiala played 30 minutes as a substitute against Schalke on Saturday before manager Vincent Kompany placed him in Thursday's starting lineup. Musiala played 65 minutes before being substituted, having also recovered from a broken leg and ankle injury sustained at the 2025 Club World Cup.

Following the match, sporting director Max Eberl stated that the player's medication is adjusted and that potential in-game issues are close to zero. Kompany explained that the decision to start Musiala was based on training form and merit.

Olise added a fourth in the 83rd minute with a curling shot before Bodo/Glimt defender Odin Bjortuft received a red card for a professional foul in the 87th minute. Olise completed his brace in stoppage time against the ten-man visitors, securing player of the match honours.

The victory extended Bayern's unbeaten home streak in group and league phase matches to 39 games, with 37 wins across that run since a 2013 loss to Manchester City.
