Ars Technica says the motors are made by Yasa, which Mercedes bought in 2021. Telegraaf counts 2,660 cylindrical cells in the in-house pack.
RP Online puts the GT 63 at 2.1 seconds to 100 km/h in the best case, while Telegraaf gives 2.4 seconds and a further 4.6 seconds to 200 km/h.
RP Online lists a claimed range of up to 794 km for the GT 53 and 700 km for the GT 55 and GT 63, with charging of up to 600 kW.
Price and delivery
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its first battery-electric model, the GT 4-Door Coupé, and the manufacturer says the car will reach customers by the end of the year. RP Online gives a starting price of 115,430 euros, while La Repubblica cites 122,000 euros for the entry version and 205,000 euros for the GT 63. According to n-tv, it is the first vehicle built on the AMG.EA platform. RP Online also reports that AMG is bringing a corresponding SUV almost at the same time, which widens the range for buyers who are seen as especially skeptical of electric drive.
Three variants and their figures
RP Online lists three variants, all with all-wheel drive and a 106 kWh battery. The GT 53 has two motors rated at 400 kW (544 hp) and a claimed range of up to 794 km. The GT 55 has three motors rated at 600 kW (816 hp), while the GT 63 produces 860 kW (1,169 hp) and 2,000 Nm, and both the GT 55 and GT 63 are said to reach 700 km. n-tv reports that the GT 63 has a continuous output of 530 kW (721 hp) and can hold peak power for 63 seconds, while the GT 55 holds its peak for 55 seconds.

Performance claims differ between the sources. RP Online says the GT 63 reaches 100 km/h in at best 2.1 seconds and a top speed of at best 300 km/h. Telegraaf gives 2.4 seconds for 0 to 100 km/h and a further 4.6 seconds to reach 200 km/h, without naming a variant, and neither article explains the gap.
Motors, battery and charging
Ars Technica reports that the axial flux motors are produced by Yasa, which Mercedes bought in 2021. Focus describes the two rear motors as about 8 cm wide and the front motor as just under 9 cm. Telegraaf says the motors use magnetic discs instead of the usual stator and rotor, and that this is the first time such motors are used in an EV. Focus adds that the electronics distribute torque between the rear wheels without a mechanical limited-slip differential, and that the third motor switches on only when needed to save power.
Telegraaf reports that the in-house battery pack uses 2,660 cylindrical aluminium cells, cooled by a non-conductive fluid flowing between them, with a cooling system rated at 20 kW. RP Online says charging can reach 600 kW, enough for at best 462 km of range in ten minutes.

On the road and the track
La Repubblica describes a drive from the La Zambra hotel in Marbella, through the Serranía de Ronda mountains, to the Ascari circuit. n-tv describes a route of about 100 km from Mijas to the same circuit and says its public-road section was driven in the GT 55. Ars Technica judged the car firmly planted on the road and the track, crediting the AMG.EA architecture with coordinating power delivery, suspension, steering and active aerodynamics. Telegraaf lists seven driving modes, and the AMGFORCE Sport+ mode adds artificial V8 sound and nine artificial gear shifts. Focus notes that the rear bench is cramped because a central tunnel carries high-voltage lines and cooling components.
Rivals and what follows
Focus frames the GT 4-Door Coupé against the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra and the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. RP Online names the Porsche Taycan and the Lucid Air as competitors, and n-tv compares the GT 63 with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo Electric, which it says is registered at 168 kW of continuous output. The coupé is due at the end of the year, and the SUV that RP Online mentions is to follow at almost the same time.
