Académico de Viseu defeat Vitória SC 2-1 with stoppage-time goal

First home win at the Fontelo

Académico de Viseu secured their first home victory of the 2026/27 Primeira Liga season on Saturday evening, defeating Vitória SC 2-1 at the Estádio Municipal do Fontelo. The sixth-round fixture concluded the day's league schedule and marked a second consecutive win for the hosts, who had defeated Gil Vicente in the preceding round. Before this fixture, the Viseu-based side had suffered two consecutive home defeats without scoring, losing 0-1 against Santa Clara and 0-3 against FC Porto. The victory lifted Académico de Viseu into seventh place in the league table with eight points, while Vitória SC remained in 12th place on four points after failing to collect points away from Guimarães this season.

Missed chances in a scoreless first half

The visiting side from Guimarães, managed by Tiago Margarido, created several early scoring opportunities during a contested opening half. In the sixth minute, Vitória forward Gustavo Silva threatened with a header, and eight minutes later midfielder Samu Silva missed a clear chance when shooting over the crossbar while one-on-one with Académico goalkeeper Ewerton. Académico de Viseu responded through forward André Clóvis, who directed a header between the central defenders in the 36th minute. Second-half breakthroughs

The deadlock broke eight minutes into the second half when Académico de Viseu recorded their first home goal of the campaign. In the 53rd minute, André Clóvis struck a shot against the crossbar, allowing Lorougnon Gohi to collect the rebound and slot a low finish past goalkeeper Oliwier Zych for his first league goal in six appearances. Vitória SC pushed for an equalizer, though Gustavo Silva missed another clear chance in the 65th minute by placing a shot wide. Two minutes later, in the 67th minute, Vitória leveled the score at 1-1 when substitute Gonçalo Nogueira received a pass from Alanzinho and beat Ewerton with a strike from distance, also recording his first goal of the season.

Stoppage-time winner and red card

Both sides pursued a decisive goal in the closing minutes, but the hosts capitalized on their late opportunity deep into extra time. In the 93rd minute (90+3'), forward Mohamed Bouldini scored the winning goal for Académico de Viseu to make it 2-1. Two minutes after the goal, in the 95th minute (90+5'), forward Alioune Ndoye received a straight red card, leaving the home team with ten players for the final seconds before the final whistle. The defeat left Vitória SC winless in their last two matches, while Académico de Viseu doubled their opponents' points total in the standings.
