Lady Gaga and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first child. Photographs published by Page Six and confirmed by People show the 40-year-old singer and actress walking near San Francisco, California, carrying the newborn against her chest in a carrier sling. The couple was accompanied by Polansky, a bodyguard, and Gaga's longtime talent agent Alexandra Trustman. Neither the parents nor their representatives have formally announced the baby's name, sex, or exact date of birth.

The appearance represents the first time the couple has been seen publicly with the infant. Gaga, whose legal name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, had kept a low profile following the conclusion of her concert tour earlier in the year.

Relationship and executive career

Polansky, 42, is a technology executive and investor who graduated with honors from Harvard University in 2006 with degrees in applied mathematics and computer science. He serves as the executive director of the Parker Foundation, established by former Facebook president Sean Parker, and manages the investment firm Hawktail Management. Polansky is also a co-founder of biotechnology startup Outer Biosciences and Avos Capital Management, while holding board seats at the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and Gaga's cosmetics brand, Haus Labs.

The couple met in late 2019 at a birthday celebration and made their first public appearance together in Las Vegas during New Year's Eve festivities. Gaga confirmed their engagement in July 2024 after a private proposal earlier that year. The pair subsequently made their official red-carpet debut in September 2024 at the Venice Film Festival during the premiere of Joker: Folie à Deux.

Hiatus after world tour

The arrival follows a quiet summer for Gaga, who stepped back from public life after finishing her Mayhem Ball world tour in April 2026. The concert run spanned nine months and included 86 performances across multiple continents.

Following the tour finale, Gaga made only brief promotional appearances. In May 2026, she attended the premiere of her concert film Lady Gaga Mayhem Requiem at The Grove in Los Angeles and contributed to the soundtrack for The Devil Wears Prada 2, in which she also filmed a cameo appearance. Gaga was later seen in August taking a photograph with a fan in Northern California, but maintained minimal activity on social media platforms throughout the summer.

Previous statements on motherhood

Gaga has spoken about wanting to build a family across several interviews over the past decade. During a 2019 makeup video, she noted her twin ambitions to film more movies and have children. Speaking to television host Stephen Colbert in 2025, she reiterated that family life was her primary personal ambition.

“I would like to do many things. All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That's my next starring role, I hope.”

In a prior interview with The New York Times, Gaga also discussed her perspective on raising children outside the intense focus of celebrity culture. She explained that her priority was allowing her future children independence from her public persona.

“The most important thing for me is not to force my children to live a life they did not choose. So, the more we can leave them the space to discover who they are on their own, the better. That is what I believe most deeply.”
