Romanian Police warn of SMS scam impersonating authorities to collect fake fines
The Romanian Police issued a warning on Sunday about a new online fraud campaign in which scammers send SMS messages posing as the police and demanding immediate payment for fake traffic fines, threatening penalties and account blocks.

RO-Alert triggers nationwide search for 22-year-old woman missing from Bucharest since Friday morning
Piron Iris Anastasia left her home in Sector 6 of Bucharest on the morning of 24 July 2026 and has not been seen since. On 26 July authorities issued a RO-ALERT to mobile phones across the capital, describing her appearance and clothing and urging anyone with information to call 112.
