Poland’s Sejm passes law tying doctors’ salaries to PESEL numbers after councillor-doctor earned 1.6m zloty

On Friday, the Polish lower house voted 253-0 with 177 abstentions to require the health technology agency to collect non-anonymised doctor salary data linked to the national ID number, after a 28-year-old councillor and trainee doctor was found to have earned 1.6 million zloty in 2025.
